Beginning June 1, 2022, masks will no longer be required for entering the studio. They are still highly recommended, especially if you feel under the weather but not sick enough to stay at home. Mrs. Cathy reserves the right to request a mask be put on if she feels it necessary and will provide a mask. Hand washing before lessons and cleaning the piano between lessons will still be in effect.

STUDIO POLICIES 2024-2025

 

Students are expected to arrive on time to their scheduled lesson. If you are late for any reason, please don’t expect your time to be made up. If schedule allows, Mrs. Cathy may be able to extend your lesson time to accommodate, but please do not have the expectation she will.

 

Mrs. Cathy requests that shoes not be worn inside the studio. They can be left outside the front door or in the foyer of the studio. Students are required to wash their hands before their lesson.

 

The studio has video cameras recording at all times. Parents of students taking lessons with Mrs. Cathy at her studio have consented to allowing their students to be video recorded. Videos will only be used for legal purposes, if needed, and are not a means to record lessons for students to use as a practice tool.

 

Tuition rates are as follows:

30-minute lessons: $110 monthly

45-minute lessons: $140 monthly

60-minute lessons: $210 monthly

 

Tuition is to be paid monthly for the months of August-May and due by the 5th day of the month regardless when the first scheduled lesson is. If not received by the 5th of the month, there will be a $10 late fee charged.

 

The main form of communication regarding lesson information is via email. Parents are expected to provide a valid email address and check their email regularly.

 

Lessons are eligible for a makeup if Mrs. Cathy has been notified before the start time of the lesson. Makeup lessons are on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of every month with the exception of holidays and breaks. There will also be a designated makeup week at the end of every semester in December and May. It is the parent’s responsibility to schedule a makeup. Missed makeup lessons will not be rescheduled a second time.

 

During the summer, lessons are a la carte at $30 per half hour lesson and $40 per 45-minute lesson. Students may elect to take as many lessons as they’d like. Students taking less than 4 lessons during the summer will need to pay a one-month deposit in order to retain their spot in the studio for the fall. For example, the deposit for a half hour lesson will be $110. The deposit will be applied to August lessons.

 

Fees regarding books and event registration are not included in tuition. They will be billed according to the student’s use and participation. Mrs. Cathy will have books available at lessons and register students for music festivals and events if they choose to participate. Music festivals and events are not required of students but are a wonderful way for students to set goals for themselves as well as gaining performance experience.

Students taking theory as preparation for the state theory exam are required to have a minimum 45-minute lesson. Preparing for the theory exam is an additional component to their piano lesson. Trying to squeeze it into their normal piano lesson may cause one or the other to suffer.

 

Students select their desired lesson day and time in August for the entire school year (Aug-May). If a student wishes to switch lesson times to accommodate other conflicts, it is not guaranteed they will have a time slot.

Students are expected to come prepared for their lesson and bring all necessary materials. Practice times vary for each student depending on ability. Mrs. Cathy will provide specific practice instructions during lessons.

 

Students must be picked up on time from their lessons. If a student is picked up more than 5 minutes after their lesson time ends, Mrs. Cathy reserves the right to charge a fine.

Students wishing to terminate lessons may do so at any time. Any unused balance at time of termination will not be refunded. Mrs. Cathy reserves the right to dismiss a student from the studio at any time for any reason.
